An up and coming band that consists of four Nebraska natives,
Band Members include:
Tom “Tommie” Wolfe-Lead Vocalist, Mike “Rust”-Guitar,
Mike “Gapp”-Bass Guitar, and Greg Lytle –Drums
IGNITION'S shows are full of their original songs that ranged in genre from modern rock to heavy metal. When seeing them perform live, You will be surprised at how instantaneously this band will captivated your attention by their stage presence, musical talent, and vocal strength. After leaving one of their shows you will have an overwhelming feeling of wanting to hear more, because their performance will significantly exceed all of your expectations. IGNITION has barely been together for two years, and they hit the stage like they have been performing on stage together for years.
TreyBlue had the opportunity to sit down with the band members from IGNITION to do a brief interview with them, we wanted to reveal more to our readers about whom they are as individuals and who they are as a band.
During our interview, we found them all to not only to be incredibly talented, but to each have their own unique personality, and when in combination with each other, they have a very impressive sense of humor, and we think most would agree that Gapp’s sense of humor is very eccentric in contrast to other the band members.
The band members made us feel very at ease during our interview, We learned from the interview that Mike Rust and Mike Gapp met while they were students at Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska, and had performed together in a band prior to IGNITION. Rust and Gapp discovered Tom Wolfe, while he was singing in a karaoke bar, and he blew them away with his singing talent. Wolfe swiftly agreed to join Rust and Gapp in starting their own band, and they cleverly chose the bands name IGNITON.
Wanting to make the band become a full-scale reality, they decided to hold an audition to search for the perfect drummer to represent their newly combined band; Greg Lytle united with the band following an unbeatable audition. Lytle’s skilled drumming flair was specifically what the band had been looking for.
The members of IGNITION informed us during the interview that their utmost challenges as a band, have been scheduling rehearsal time, not only because of their demanding lives in general, but because of the amount of travel time needed to get to and from rehearsals. All of the band members live in different areas of Nebraska; one of the band members resides in Hastings, one in Grand Island, one in Lincoln, and one in McCook, but the band tries to be as dedicated as they possibly can to keeping rehearsals to at least once a week.
IGNITION band members each have their own contributing talent to offer the band. Rust’s musically creative talent emerges through his writing of the music, chords, and some of the lyrics for Ignitions original song list they perform during their shows.
In addition to vocal strength, Wolfe adds his own creative vibe by writing the lyrics to the music, this keeps him in touch with the music on a personal level, and the band agreed that Wolfe should write the majority of lyrics, therefore when he is singing the lyrics they will hold a much deeper significance to him and in return come across to their audience more heartfelt.
Lytle despite being the self-proclaimed “shy guy” of the group never misses a beat on drums, and also helps in contributing lyrics for IGNITIONS original music, Lytle also is a 20-year rock n roll music veteran in the music industry, his knowledge and experience of the music business is an invaluable asset to their band.
Gapp contributes his distinctive skills on the bass guitar that are right in sync with his high-energy stage presence, and his eccentric comedic side will stand out when he does his "spoof" of Bonnie Tyler's 1984 hit song “Holding out for a Hero.” Also; being well known for “heating up” the stage at some of IGNITION'S shows, Gapp will quite literally do just that...
Well, that is if the venue is large enough, Gapp frequently performs his mind-blowing, and over-the-top human pyrotechnics tricks on stage during their shows.

When asked if they could meet, anyone who became famous through the music industry whom would it be; Rust said,“The band Metallica,” Wolfe said,“Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of “Aerosmith,” because their CD "Get a Grip" has inspired me in my music career, and I greatly admire the bands versatility.” Lytle said,“Peter Criss the drummer for the band “Kiss,” Neil Peart the drummer for the band “Rush,” and any other drummer nationally or locally that I have had the pleasure to watch and learn from over the years.” Gapp said,“I would like to meet Fred Durst from the band “Limp Bizkit” because he got rich doin' it his own way", He also said,“I would've liked to have met Phil Spector, because he was a real cool music producer and a real eclectic person."
At the conclusion of interviewing IGNITION'S, band members it was profoundly apparent just how appreciative they are of the encouragement given to them by their family, friends, fans, and in addition the local radio stations, such as THUNDER 103.1, for helping expose Central Nebraska to such a vast genre of music.
We strongly feel that IGNITION has a great deal of determination, dedication, and drive.Their passion paired with providing breathtaking concert performances absolutely prove IGNITION is a force to be reckoned with.
Without a doubt, there is an impressive future ahead for this band, and TreyBlue is enthusiastic about going to another IGNITION show in the near future.
