Dapose: Guitar, Bass and Synth
Jacob Thiele: Synths
Joel Petersen: Bass and Guitar
Todd Fink: Vocals
How Did You Come Up With Your Name? It just came to us. We liked the other meanings
of the word and thought it fit.
How Long Have You Been Together As A Band? I, Jacob, have been in the band since
the day after Christmas, 1998.
Dapose joined in 2001.
Joel, Clark and Todd have been playing together
since like '94 or something.
What's The Funniest Thing That's Happened
At One of Your Shows? The funniest thing I can recall at this moment is maybe
the pranks that No Doubt and their crew played on us
at our last show with them back in 2002.
It wasn't funny at the time,it was just incredibly frustrating. They put Todd's vocals through a delay before they came
back through the monitors,so it sounded like he was singing everything a beat late. I thought he had lost his sense of rhythm. They also covered the stage in double sided tape and purposely left all the lights off when we walked on stage.
On the last song, they came out in their underwear
and danced around the stage like weirdos.
What is One Thing you Want Our Readers To Know About You? We believe in peace.
Where Do You See Yourself in 10 years? Making art.
Having fun.
Ten years is a long way off.
I really have no idea.
Where Did You Grow Up? I grew up in Omaha, so did the rest of the guys in the Faint,
for the most part, although Joel was born in Illinois
and Todd was born in Iowa.
What Person or Artist Would You Like To Meet? David Bowie
What's The Biggest Reward To You Individually
From Being In This Group? I've learned a lot about music from being in this band.
I find it incredibly rewarding just getting to work on music
with everyone involved.
What's the Biggest Challenge For You Guys As A Band? At the same time I would say the biggest challenge is making music that everyone in the band is proud of.
It's hard to make us all happy, but when we're all happy
we know that song is done.
Who Or What Are Your Biggest Influences? Some of my personal heroes include
Eno, Bowie, Devo, Richard Hell, David Foster Wallace,
Basquiat, Rauschenberg, Matthew Barney, Bill Viola,
Nam June Paik, Chris Cunningham, Michel Gondry,
Alejandro Jodorowski, Buckminster Fuller, David Cross, Radiohead, Fugazi, Aphex Twin, Mr. Oizo and my friends.
